Everything we know about Morgan Wallen’s parents

Morgan Cole Wallen is a country musician who rose to fame as part of Adam Levine’s team in season six of The Voice. After getting eliminated in the playoffs, Morgan signed to Panacea Records, under which he released his debut EP, Stand Alone. In 2016, Wallen signed to Big Loud Records, and two years later, he released his first album, If I Know Me.

Wallen released his second album, Dangerous: The Double Album, in January 2021 to instant success on streaming platforms. Unfortunately, Morgan’s controversial nature threatens to derail his career progression. Following the release of a video portraying Morgan using a racial slur, Republic Records and Big Loud Records terminated their contracts with the Country musician.

As a teenager, Morgan often clashed with his preacher father

Morgan Wallen was born on 13th May 1993 in Sneedville, Tennessee to Tommy and Lesli Wallen. Morgan and his dad, a Baptist pastor, often clashed when Morgan was a teenager. Morgan picked after his dad as he told Taste of Country that Tommy was a wild character till the age of 25. “I think that’s one of the things I’ve loved about him,” Wallen said. “He’s lived. Up until 25, he told me he was pretty wild.”

Probably, Tommy didn’t want Wallen to make the same decisions he made while he was a youth. Morgan didn’t see much sense in what his father said, but when he moved out, he found wisdom in Tommy’s advice. “I was like, Dang, I know what Dad was saying,” Morgan said.

Wallen grew up singing with his sisters and his mom. He didn’t think of singing as a career that he could pursue until a baseball injury ruled out a professional career in the sport. After struggling for several years, Morgan is hanging out with top artists in the industry. Morgan has made it, but his mom constantly reminds him to stay grounded. He revealed:

“It is weird. If your mom asks you what you’re doing last night and you’re like, ‘Hanging out with Luke Bryan.’ (She’s) like ‘Cool, you make it sound so nonchalant.’”

Morgan wanted to raise his child as his parents raised him, but he has to contend with being a single dad

In July 2020, Morgan announced that he and ex-girlfriend KT Smith had welcomed a baby boy named Indigo Wilder. Wallen told People that he’d always envisioned raising his children alongside a partner in a committed relationship. “My parents are still together, you know,” he told the publication. “They raised [me and my sisters] together. That was my idea for what my life would look like.”

“Obviously, that’s not the way it turned out. And I struggled with that a little bit when I first found out.” Co-parenting has proven to be quite difficult for Morgan, but he is quickly learning what he should and shouldn’t do. Thankfully, his parents moved from Knoxville to help him raise baby Indigo. “I’m still learning,” Wallen added. “I would definitely not consider myself an expert by any means.”
