Who is Mikaela Shiffrin’s boyfriend? A look at Mikaela’s love life

Mikaela Shiffrin is a celebrated American alpine skier. She is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and three-time overall World Cup champion. The slalom is her specialty – she holds the record for youngest slalom champion in Olympic alpine skiing history, at a little under 19 years. The 26-year-0ld boasts an extensive list of skiing records.

She is one of only five Americans to ever win the World Cup overall title. Her eleven World Championship medals (six of them gold) make her the most decorated American alpine skier in history. She ranks second in terms of won World Cup races, and few would bet against her claiming top spot in the future.

Mikaela Shiffrin is currently single.

Mikaela and her controversial ex-boyfriend Mathieu Faivre broke up in 2019

Mikaela’s mom was the first to spill the beans about Mikaela’s relationship with French skier Mathieu Faivre. “I’m sure you’ve heard, she has a boyfriend in France,” Eileen told The New Yorker.

The skiers managed to successfully maintain a long distance relationship. Mikaela told Sports Illustrated that the fact that they were both skiers made their relationship easier. “He’s a ski racer, so he understands all that,” she said. “If I have a bad day and I’m like, ‘What if I’ve forgotten how to ski?’ That’s crazy, but he understands. He is the least complicated thing in my life.”

The couple used to support each other at various competitions. In one such competition, Mathieu was sent home for stating that he didn’t care about how his French compatriots fared in the competition.

Mathieu posted an apology on social media claiming that his words were misinterpreted. “I did not want to disrespect anyone, I was extremely proud to represent my country and I thank all the people who made this possible,” Faivre wrote.

Mikaela and Mathieu broke up sometime in mid-2019.

Shiffrin was previously linked with fellow American skier Brennan Rubie

Mikaela Shiffrin was previously linked with American skier Brennan Rubie. It’s unclear whether they dated, and if so, for how long, but when ESPN caught up with Mikaela in early 2016, she insisted that she was single. “Yeah, I’m single and ready to mingle,” she said. In a subsequent e-mail interview, Shiffrin reiterated her message:

“I’m still not dating anyone. I’ve been asked this several times, and I always say, ‘Nope! I’m single and ready to mingle,’ which isn’t quite true. I’ve been really busy lately and I can’t imagine setting aside extra time to be in a relationship right now. However, I like meeting new people and keeping an open mind.”
