Topsy and Tim was a popular television series based on a series of children’s books authored by Jean Adamson and Gareth Adamson about twins and their adventures. Jean Adamson told The Guardian that she and her husband trained as book illustrators and set about illustrating their own children’s books.
At the time, England was steadily rising from the rubble of World War II, and bright colors were making a comeback. Gareth and Jean observed a shortage of children’s books and came up with Topsy and Tim. The books were first published in 1960 and relaunched in 2003. Over 20 million copies of Topsy and Tim have been sold.
Topsy and Tim the series was perhaps more popular than the books. 64 episodes aired from 2013 and 2015 before production halted. Jocelyn Macnab played Topsy and Joshua Lester played Tom.
